Mission
Mission
At Cobble Hill Playschool, our children will explore their world and learn how to conquer it. They will test their independence, spark their imagination, build lasting friendships, and discover their own individual gifts and abilities. Cobble Hill Playschool. Let Them Fly.
Teaching Philosophy
The Playschool is a Reggio Emilia inspired program and draws on several leading models in early childhood education. We understand the individual needs of our students and help them make the most of their individual abilities and ways of learning. Our goal is to develop the child as thinker-confident, curious, and ready to take on challenges.
Curriculum
A mixed age classroom: Working side-by-side, two, three, and four year old children not only learn from each other, they teach each other as well. Mixed age groups build confidence and encourage each child to get as much out of an activity as their individual development allows.
An art-driven program: Music, movement, studio art, creative drama, and puppetry are used to enhance all areas of the curriculum and offer additional challenges and opportunities for learning.
Group work: In small and large groups, children hone their social skills, develop respect for each other, and learn to solve problems as a team, all in a safe, clean setting.
An integrated curriculum: All disciplines are interwoven into the teaching of a central theme. Our kids are given the framework to create their own education. This gives them control, creative freedom and a feeling of success.
A co-op environment: Parental involvement in the Playschool is integral here. It allows the school to offer a low ratio between children and adults, and a first-rate education at a reasonable cost; it also enriches our curriculum by bringing your talents and interests into the classroom. Self-esteem is built when you share your child's day with his or her friends and teachers.
