janie greene

operations manager

Janie has been at CHP since September 2006, keeping the school running smoothly and efficiently. After graduating with a Masters in Social Work from New York University, she spent several years working in family day care and family counseling. She then pursued the corporate sector, and for eleven years, developed her administrative, IT and training expertise in Time Inc.’s properties, including Time, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, and People Magazines. She left in 1996 to become a full-time mom but simultaneously worked as a consultant, elementary school substitute teacher and PTA Co-President at P.S. 29.

A native of Brooklyn, Janie lived in Manhattan for most of her adult life, but the birth of her children brought her back to Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens. Married since 1981, Janie enjoys spending time with her husband David, a business analyst, and her two daughters, Sean and Corinne.

Which talent would you like to have?
This is really not a talent, but I would love to be at least bi- if not tri-lingual. I had been pretty good in French at one time, and would love to have the opportunity to use it on a regular basis.

Where would you like to live?
I would like to live in Canada, specifically Montreal. And there's that French thing again. Montreal's a great city. Similar to New York in many ways, but cleaner, calmer and cuter.

What is your most treasured possession?
My children. My life was transformed when I had my daughters, later in life. And now I can’t see my life any other way.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
"Sort of." I think I use that probably to cover a lot of bases. It's sort of a safety issue.
