School News & Announcements
This section contains school-wide news applicable to each family.
We continue to gear up for our first day, September 14th. Please help us prepare for the arrival of your child by completing your registration paperwork. If you have questions about the status of your paperwork, please contact Stacy at stacy@cobblehillplayschool.com
The third of five tuition payments is due on September 1st. Payment can be made by check, payable to Cobble Hill Playschool. If you have any questions about your tuition status or payments, please contact Stacy at stacy@cobblehillplayschool.com.
If you haven’t had a chance to review our Family Q&A with Kristin (held August 11), here is a recording of the meeting.
We are in the process of forming a parent committee tasked with developing our tuition adjustment policy in the event of a Covid-related school closure. Please see the Community Engagement section below for more information.
Notes From Our Classroom Teachers
This section includes weekly updates from our classroom teachers and arts specialists.
If your child is still hesitant about wearing a mask, check out Teacher Lizzie’s homemade movie about why we wear masks.
New Parent Orientation is coming up on Thursday, September 10th via Zoom: We can’t wait to “meet” you!
This informative evening is mandatory for new parents and open to all parents. Parents will get a chance to meet us, the teachers, and we will review all the details of attending school at CHP. The event generally lasts about an hour to an hour and a half.
Community Engagement
This section contains information about our school community, including information from our volunteer parent Board of Directors.
Please get familiar with our Parent Portal. (This year’s password: together.) In addition to containing useful information about CHP, it is also where our Daily Health Screening (which you will complete each day your child comes to school) is housed. The form is simple, easy to access, and can be completed on your phone, tablet, or computer. It will go live when school begins.
Join us online! If you haven’t already, please join our private FaceBook group, exclusively for current and former families of CHP. This is a great place to share tips, find babysitters, ask for advice, and generally connect. Search CHP Parents’ Group on FaceBook to request membership.
Our teachers return to the classroom on August 31st and their first project will be crafting our Twos Program Phase-in Schedule, which will be distributed to families that week.
Reminder: your (twos program) child will have a truncated school schedule for the first two weeks of school: the first week will be a stoop or playground visit with teachers and families and the second week will be attendance at school for an hour and a half on your child’s regularly scheduled days. The third week we plan to begin attendance in full, pending each child’s readiness.
For our 3s and 4s program families: Teachers will be reaching out the week of August 31st to schedule Zoom meetings, introduce themselves, and provide families with information about their child’s group and classmates.
Tuition Review Committee: The CHP Board of Directors is looking for a team of five parents interested in serving on a committee tasked with reviewing CHP's tuition policy in the event of a Covid-related school closure. We, as a board and in conjunction with executive staff, are working to develop the broad outlines for such a policy. As a parent cooperative, we rely on the input of our community at large. The commitment would involve periodic Zoom meetings and email communication at the mid-point of the school year and again at the end of the school year. Work would center on developing the school's financial response to a prolonged closure. If interested, please get in touch with parent and Board Vice President Molly Rayo at vp@cobblehillplayschool.com. This commitment will serve as your cooperative parent job.
Mask on / Mask off Project: Part of our work ensuring comfort with a return to school and wearing masks is our Mask On / Mask Off Project. If you have not already, please submit two photos of your child: one wearing a mask and one without a mask. You can upload photos here or email them to Kristin at kristin@cobblehillplayschool.com.
Events Around Town
This section contains information about events of interest in the neighborhood, relevant news articles, and information about public and private schools in our area.
Time at home is now the norm, and if you’ve run out of activity ideas, this list provides some wonderful ideas. Some of the suggestions are tailored for bigger children, but many suggestions are great for the preschool set!
Duty Parents
This section will list our duty parents for the upcoming week when we are able to safely reinstitute this program.
